Las películas 'Oppenheimer', 'Poor Things' y 'Barbie' fueron seleccionadas este martes en la categoría de mejor película para la 96 edición de los Oscar, que se celebrará el próximo 10 de marzo en Los Ángeles.

Estas cintas competirán con otros siete títulos más en dicho apartado: 'Killers of the Flower Moon', 'American Fiction', 'Anatomy of a Fall', 'Maestro', 'Past Lives', 'The Holdovers' y 'The zone of interest'.

La popular cinta de la muñeca de Mattel se verá las caras de nuevo con 'Oppenheimer', que narra la historia del físico y 'padre' de bomba atómica, Robert Oppenheimer.

La candidatura de 'Poor Things', la película de ciencia ficción del director griego Yorgos Lanthimos, también figuraba en todas las quinielas gracias a su relato sobre una mujer que al estilo de Frankenstein fue resucitada después de trasplantarle el cerebro de su feto.

'Maestro', segunda película que dirige Bradley Cooper, y los regresos de Martin Scorsese con 'Killers of the Flower Moon' y Alexander Payne con 'The Holdovers' también superaron el corte de la Academia de Hollywood a mejor película.

Las revelaciones del año en la categoría reina de los Oscar fueron 'The Zone of Interest', dirigida por Jonathan Glazar en un retrato de la banalización de la maldad durante el régimen nazi, y 'Anatomy of a fall', de la francesa Justine Triet.

Triet hace un retrato de los esfuerzos que una escritora lleva a cabo para probar su inocencia tras ser acusada de haber asesinado a su esposo cuyas causas de muerte resultan misteriosas.

'American Fiction', del inexperto director Cord Jefferson sobre un profesor que escribe un exitoso libro repleto de estereotipos sobre afroamericanos, y el drama romántico 'Pas Lives', de la coreano-canadiense Celine Song, también luchará por un triunfo en los Oscar.
